R&P 18: Website Analysis (Birdy)

Website Analysis (Birdy)

Birdy's Website

As you enter the website you are greeted with this page which is an abstract photo slideshow, other than the art the home page is quite simplistic, we can gain a good understanding of the artist being simple ( stripped down to guitar ) however their niche, modern style is also demonstrated through the abstract art.

The text of the website is once again very simplistic and honest which once again is symbolic of the artists style and the lyrics of her songs. Her songs are pure and innocent which is represented through the choice of white text.

Underneath the title of the artist we have her social media links once again the links are done in a simplistic yet artists manner to add diversity to the artists page. It is a good way to build a connection with fans and to turn them into not just a visitor of the website but also a fan of your social medias. This builds up an audience/fan base so when you release new material you already have a target audience to generate hype towards and they can spread word  of your new music to friends and therefore increase your target audience size.

There is also sidebar which creates this drop down menu to access other aspects of the website. It is full of character and unlike other websites you would typically look at making Birdy appear unique. It is also easily accessible for everyone.

All of the links take you to appropriate pages which help develop further understanding of the artist, for example below is a section of the 'bio' tab:

What has this post taught me?

From this post I learned conventions of a very similar artist from a very similar genre. I can take elements of the website such as the simplistic text for my website and the accessible social media links. However the moving image on the main page is quite complicated and I wouldn't want to implement to my website because he made the website lag for me which could be frustrating for the audience.
