Mood Board

As a task to really get the creative process going we had out first group meeting and brainstormed some initial ideas. We established that we wanted some of the shots to be inside and some outdoors in nature to give depth to the video. Below is the mood board which we initially came up with:




What has this post taught me?

This discussion helped us get on the same wavelength in terms of the ideas for the music video going forward and also gave us a mood board to refer to in the future to reignite discussions when storyboarding.

Music Video Analysis (Birdy - Skinny Love) I decided to analyse this music video because Birdy is in the same genre meaning I can look at codes and conventions of the genre. This medium shot is our introduction to the artist and we are fulfilled with mystery as we can not see her face yet can here her singing. Also another key part of the video is Birdy performing the song which is an element which we feel will be essential to our music video. Close ups are used however to help establish the artist and make her more recognisable. That being said the lighting is very dark and so the artist still appears as mysterious. We have shots from many angles of Birdy and also different types of shots e.g close up, medium shot. This adds different dimensions to the video and adds depth.
