R&P 38: The Role Of The Internet
Role of the internet
The role of the internet has massively impacted the music industry because of the accessibility it provided consumers. Internet streaming meant the destruction of music shops because nobody wanted to buy CD's as a CD player was no longer how individuals listened to music.
Whilst the role of the internet was slowly taking over the need for music shops, the internet site 'YouTube' was a catalyst in completely eradicating the need. YouTube is a free site which users can watch music videos from as long as they have internet access. Consumers had free music and this gave them the possibility to listen to multiple artists as apposed to being limited to one album that they may have brought.
Most of YouTube's most viewed videos are music videos and some have billions of hits online such as 'see you again' by Wiz Khalifa or 'Gangnam Style' by Psy.
What have I learned from this post?
This post taught me the role that the internet has on modern day. I must ensure that I make my artist big on social media platforms because this will have huge impacts on my artists success.
