R&P 36: Location Visit / Shots

We decided to visit all of the locations to find different parts to film at and also to work out the logistics behind the filming days so we are as prepared as possible.

St James' Park







St James' park had some great locations which gave us great ideas however it was extremely busy and so may be difficult to film at. However we decided it could be a interesting place to take some photos of Eden for the Digpak and Website.

Green Park




Just like St James' Park, Green Park was quite busy especially considering how early we got to the location. It also looked even better because we visited in autumn so it fitted with the concept of change we want in our music video. 

Phoenix Gardens





Phoenix Gardens were very nice and quiet which was different to the two previous locations. However this location wasn't very big and it was hard to find spots which would make for interesting shots.

What have I learned from this post?

Although these locations weren't ideal for the music video they did have some use for the photoshoot for the website and/or digipak.

Music Video Analysis (Birdy - Skinny Love) I decided to analyse this music video because Birdy is in the same genre meaning I can look at codes and conventions of the genre. This medium shot is our introduction to the artist and we are fulfilled with mystery as we can not see her face yet can here her singing. Also another key part of the video is Birdy performing the song which is an element which we feel will be essential to our music video. Close ups are used however to help establish the artist and make her more recognisable. That being said the lighting is very dark and so the artist still appears as mysterious. We have shots from many angles of Birdy and also different types of shots e.g close up, medium shot. This adds different dimensions to the video and adds depth.
