R&P 20: Website Analysis (James Bay)

Website Analysis (James Bay)

James Bay's home page is one of the most successful home pages which i have seen. The imagery used is very strong and the framing allows the viewers eyes to draw down towards the links to other areas of the website.

As you can see by the images below the website has a very consistent image set, the colours used and the typography remains similar throughout allowing the artist to create a 'brand' for themselves. It is also very sophisticated and has a professional manner.

When your mouse is over particular images you are able to access other parts of the website. This is a very unique addition to the website and allows for dimension. The unique and niche nature is reminiscent of James Bay as he is an artist who has shaped his own style and brand.

Below is the store for the website. Once again this part of the website is very consistent with the home page in the type of imagery, colours and typography which us being used. The image itself by James Bay is successful because of the way Bay is looking towards you down the staircase creates a feeling that you know him personally and are on a journey with him creating a bond between the artist and the audience.

What has this post taught me?

The colour scheme of this website is much more suited to my artist. I also like the dropdown menu being at the top as I think it makes it accessible for the audience. The image is also very strong as it reinforces the brand which James Bay has built up, even without the text at the top of the website it is recognisable which is something I want for my artist. This reminds me on what I discovered on an earlier post on the importance of branding.
